How To Meet People Traveling: Step by Step.

Would you like to meet people traveling but don’t know how?

I will give you some tips that will make it easy for you to meet a lot of people.

Following these pieces of advice, everything will flow naturally: 100% guarantee.

Where to Stay to Meet Travelers

This is probably the most important matter.

Why?

Because it’s where you normally meet your travel mates. It’s also the easiest way.

You can choose different places to stay, but the best are hostels and guesthouses. Some of them are perfect for meeting people.

A good way to choose the right ones is to pay attention to other travelers opinions.

Do guests say it’s a great place to socialize?

It’s also important that the hostel has a common area, such as a living room, bar or restaurant.

They are an easy way to make new friends. Often, Backpackers approach you or sit next to you to talk.

It’s normal.

More than you can imagine if you haven’t travel alone before.

In that kind of place, you can either stay in a dorm with several people or in a private room.

Personally, I like to have my own space if possible. Which in some countries is NOT because they are expensive.

On the other hand, if you choose a dorm you will have more opportunities to socialize.

Is the Hostel to socialize a good place to sleep?

For example, in Chiang Mai, Thailand, there is a hostel called Julie’s Guesthouse that is the best place to meet people but probably the worst for sleeping.

It’s too noisy.

So I recommend staying in another hostel nearby and going to that Guesthouse to eat, have a drink and socialize.

 Tours To Meet People

In Australia, I joined a couple of tours, and on both, I met some lovely people from around the world.

With these kinds of activities, you always meet open-minded people ready to have a good time.

You spend the whole day together or a few days if the tour is longer.

First, you need to find the right tour. Some are more cultural, others more adventurous or more for party animals.

Choose the one that feeds your personality. If you don’t like a party, don’t join this kind of tour thinking that you will meet more people.

Why?

Because what will happen instead it’s that you will feel out of place, and you will not enjoy it.

It happened to me by mistake. I mean, I didn’t know that it was that type of tour. They didn’t tell me.

I don’t even drink alcohol and I was surrounded by drunk teenagers. Fortunately, it was only at night.

I like a quote from Will Smith:

“Be yourself, do your own thing. The right people – the ones who really belong in your life – will come to you and stay.”

Focus on activities that you like. This way, you will meet people with similar interests.

Also, take a look at the ages of the people on the tour. It’s not advisable to join if they are much younger or much older.

 Places to Meet People Traveling

Take a look at the bars and restaurants recommended in travel guides and on websites.

This way, you can find the most popular spots.

That will allow you to easily meet new people.

Some restaurants have a big table that different people share. So it’s natural to start a conversation with the person next to you.

If you are alone, it may be a bit harder for you to go to a bar. But once you overcome the fear, you will see that it’s easy to make new friends and that there are a lot of people like you out there.

Personally, I like bars with live music. Normally, this kind of place is nice and friendly.

Each city has places where the travelers hang out. They are always willing to meet new people, have a chat and have a good time.

 Meeting People Traveling Alone

If you travel alone, the best option is to meet people who are also traveling alone.

People traveling alone are more open than those traveling in a group.

If you want to start talking with someone who is alone, remember to approach them from the front.

Some people get scared if you say “hi” from behind.

This might be obvious for some people, but not for everybody.

When I travel alone, I meet ten times more people than when I travel with someone.

And you know what?

I love traveling alone. You are totally free, which allows you to join a group to visit some places or leave it if you don’t like to.

As they are not your friends, you don’t have to stay.

It also allows you to eat and sleep whenever you want and to visit whatever places you want without discussion.

You don’t need to wait for anybody or go somewhere that you don’t like.

The Internet to Meet People Traveling

There are many websites and apps for meeting people. Personally, I have tried it, and I don’t like them.

You can waste hours chatting with people for nothing.

Or you might meet someone that you think you have a good connection with, and it turns out they are not the person in the photo, or they are not the person they pretend to be.

On the other hand, when you meet someone in person, you can sense straight away if you have a real connection, and you don’t have to waste your valuable time.

Besides, if you are traveling, you’re supposed to be visiting amazing places and enjoying the adventure, and not have your face glued to a screen the whole time.

The most important things happen off-screen.

It could be a good idea to do an internet-detox while traveling.

 Overall

In other words, for me, the most important thing is to have an open mind about meeting people.

It should happen naturally as a part of your trip.

Follow these pieces of advice, do your own thing, and the right people will come to you.

If you have more ideas please share it on the comments. May help some people.

Cheers,
